Harry Donald (Don) Griffin died February 18, 2010.. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 4, 1924 and moved to Little Rock with his family two years later. Don was a farmer who then went into construction, operating all kinds of heavy equipment. He was a superintendent overseeing part of the building of I-630.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy Seabees and later was called into service during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Pulaski County Mounted Patrol.
Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Sue Epps Griffin; son, Donald Ray (Don) and his wife, Marcia; his daughters, Susan Wallgren and husband, Dale and Robin Dorey and husband, Leon. He is also survived by five grandsons, Will Taggart, Adam Taggart (Keri), Glen Griffin (Davis), Stephen Griffin (Jill Jordan) and David May (Felicia), one granddaughter, Sarah Fauzi (Agung), four great-grandchildren and one due in March. He leaves two brothers, William Griffin, Jr. and Richard W. Griffin and wife, Mary Dee. He was predeceased by his parents, William Griffin, Sr. and Wilsie Watkins Griffin, and a sister, Margaret Reynolds.
Graveside services will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Serving as his pallbearers will be his grandsons and his nephews, Lynn Tiner and Richard W. Griffin, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons' wives.
The family would like to express great kindness to the caregivers who took care of our husband and father during the last months of his life. Their giving spirit was a comfort to all of us. The doctors, nurses and caregivers from Arkansas Hospice provided Mr. Don with loving care.
