Harry was born on October 31, 1924 in Shidler, Oklahoma. During the Depression and afterwards with FDR's New Deal, his family traveled to where the work was as his dad was a bridge builder. In his early teens, the family settled in Benton, AR. Harry joined the United States Air Force in November, 1942, and served as 1st Lieutenant during World War II. He was a fighter pilot flying out of Italy. After the war, he came to Little Rock where he met and married the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Foreman in 1951. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Civil Engineering Degree in 1954. After moving back to Little Rock, Harry worked at Arkansas Foundry Company (AFCO) as a Structural Engineer. He then went to work for the Arkansas Highway Department as a Bridge Design Engineer until he retired in 1986.
Harry was a member of Oak Forest United Methodist Church, the Fisherman Sunday School Class, and the Oak Forest United Methodist Choir and helped with the Parents Night Out Program. He served as Cub Scout Master and Boy Scout Master, and taught the children's Sunday School Class at Oak Forest.
Harry always had a project to work on, and taught his sons how to build a house, work on a car, but most of all, he showed his sons how to love their families. He was always ready to lend a hand to whomever needed help.
