Harry David Beggs, age 75, of Sims, Arkansas passed away March 15, 2024. He was born March 7, 1949, in Sims, Arkansas to Thomas and Birtie (Carter) Beggs.
Other than his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his siblings, Anna Jewel Taylor, Jerry Beggs and Judy Harbour.
Loving survivors include his wife of 55 years, Nona Beggs; children, Barton Beggs, Jason Beggs, Sarah Hawthorn, Justus Beggs (Misty) and Israel Beggs; grandchildren, Kaitlin, Austin, Ian, Braydan, Alyssa, Alexis, Ally, Garrett, Sawyer, Scarlet and Ty; great-grandchildren, Ava, Anya and Posey; siblings, Debra Rodriquez, Ogene Beggs; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Harry worked hard in all facets of his life. He was best known for his garden, which he plowed with a mule for over 30 years. Harry worked at Mt. Ida Footwear before going to Weyerhaeuser where he worked for 15 years. Then he began self-employment as a commercial pork producer and cattle rancher for 15 years. After retiring from commercial pork production, he continued cattle ranching and went to work for the National Park Service in Hot Springs as an Equipment Operator.
He met a lot of people through his varied work history. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family, and visiting with his buddies trying to solve the world’s problems.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Smith Family Funeral Home in Glenwood.
A celebration of Harry’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Faith Tabernacle Church in Mt. Ida with Chaplain Mark Lyle officiating. Burial will follow at Lone Valley Cemetery in Sims.
Pallbearers will be Clint Beggs, Robert Beggs, Micaiah Beggs, Garrett Beggs, Jeff Gray and John Bennett.
Honorary Pallbearers are Danny Stovall, Larry Dillard, Jack Hatton, Bob Caldwell, and Wendell Adams.
