Our beloved father, Harry DeWitt Armstrong, 95, of Beebe, was born August 25, 1916, in McRae, Arkansas to Jack and Cora (Lock) Armstrong, and went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2012. He was joined by a host of family that were already there awaiting his arrival, including his wife of 62 years, Lola Bell. She was waiting on him at the shore of The River of Life, as was their plan for the last 13 years, almost to the day.

He was also preceded in death by daughter, Vickie Armstrong Davis; son, Thomas K. Armstrong; and daughter in law, Mary Ellen (Sanford) Armstrong.

He is survived by son, Fredrick D. Armstrong; daughter, Patricia A. Woods (Edward); son, Jimmie A. Armstrong (Jane); daughter, Vivian K. Armstrong Sanford; and daughter-in-law, Melanie K. (Webb) Armstrong. He had 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was the last surviving sibling of 12 children.

He was a man of honor and integrity, leading a Godly example to all who knew him. He medically retired from the ARMY in 1942, and later retired as a heavy equipment operator. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying the sport with his children. He was a huge Cardinals fan. The children can vividly remember sitting and listening to games by radio. The family takes great comfort in knowing their parents have been reunited.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Open Arms Assembly of God, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
