Harris Herron age 83 of Curtis died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Baptist Medical Center Arkadelphia. He was born February 15, 1925 the son of R. H. "Shorty" and Jewell Freeman Herron. He was a retired well driller and for many years owned and operated Herron's Grocery and Station in Curtis. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Curtis. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Steve Herron, an infant daughter Ann and a sister Relda Dodwell.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years Joan Irish Herron, two sons, Mike Herron of Curtis and Terry Herron of Fayetteville, one brother, Clifford Herron of Waxhaw, North Carolina, one sister Avanelle Beene of Curtis, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 A.M. Saturday in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Phillip Runyan, Rev. Bobby Cook, and Rev. Johnny Irish officiating. Burial will be in the Richwoods Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
