Harold Samuel Wimbley, 69, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away from his earthly home on Sunday, July 10, 2022, to enter GOD's Kingdom prepared for worship. Harold was born on Tuesday, September 9, 1952, in Soudan, Arkansas, to his loving parents, Herman Wimbley and Eula Watson-Wimbley, who preceded him in death.
After the death of Harold's father, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where he was raised by his Uncle and Aunt, Clarence and Ruth Watson. As he grew up with his Aunt and Uncle, he became an active member of the St. Paul AME Baptist Church. At an early age, Harold chose to volunteer for service with the United States Navy. As he would reflect on the years that he served in the Navy. He would often boast about his travel adventures and be proud to be of service to his country while serving in the military.
After his service with the Navy ended, Harold was productive in holding various odd jobs until he found his niche as a master Plummer. After his late wife (Laura Bassett-Wimbley) became ill, they decided to move to Harpersville, New York, so that she could be closer to her family until she went home to be with the Lord. Harold was an active member at Stamford Baptist Church in Stamford, NY, where he had the opportunity to serve as a missionary and use his skills as a plumber, building water lines to deliver water to foreign countries, which included making many trips to Peru. Harold was famous to his New York family & friends for his "Fried Chicken and Potato Salad."
He participated in various organizations and events at the church until his move to Memphis, TN, with his very close and special friend, Judy Lawson, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by 3 Sisters, Pearlie Mae, Estella, and Zenobia. Harold's mobility became very limited as his health condition began to fail. Harold will forever be in the hearts of many.
He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Chambers, a close Nephew Kevin Jackson, close Nieces Sherry Porter, Sheena Wilson, Brenda Washington (Alphonse), and Teralisa Brewer (Thomas), along with a host of other family members, including other nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family is honoring Harold Samuel Wimbley's wishes for Cremation.
