Harold “Red” Owens, age 76, of Amity, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.
He was born on November 3, 1943, in the once logging community of Forester (Scott County), the son of Loyd Owens and Magdeline Ivy Owens. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Paulette Owens, and his second wife, Wanda Owens.
Harold was a deacon of Salem Clark Missionary Baptist Church, a retired member of the Arkansas Boilermaker Association, and the owner and operator of Owens Construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, race car driving, working with nature and loved fixing equipment.
Harold is survived by five children, Katrina Angel, Deric and Dana Owens, Devin and Diane Owens, Kevin and Reshea Owens, all of Amity, and James and Kandy Owens of Kirby; three step-children, Cary and Kim Davidson of Amity, Nita and Bruce Wingo of Malvern and Kelly Brown of Ottumwa, Iowa; twenty-three grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Janice Williams of Hot Springs; his brother and sister-in-law, Ricky and Julie Owens of Amity; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 8, 2020, in the Jones Cemetery in Amity with Bro. James Owens and Bro. Brian Hill officiating.
Pallbearers will be Erman Mauldin, Ricky Owens, Deric Owens, Devin Owens, Kevin Owens and James Owens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Jones Cemetery Association C/O Chambers Bank, P.O. Box 38, Amity Arkansas 71921.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
