Harold Loyd "Rex" Morris, 78 of North Little Rock, died at home May 28, 2008. He was born in Marianna, Ark., lived most of his life in Arizona and California. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years, serving on the USS Providence, USS Los Angeles, USS Henderson, USS Frontier and USS Alfred A Cunningham aircraft carriers. After retiring from the Navy he worked as a welder for 23 years at Shell Oil Refinery in California. He returned to Arkansas in 1989 after retiring from Shell Oil. He enjoyed bowling, building with wood in his shop and working crossword puzzles.
Preceded in death by his parents Robert and Bernice Morris; brother, Robert Hugh Morris, Jr. He was a devoted caregiver to his late wives Mildred Jordon Morris, Jane Coughlin Morris and Ann Lehmann Morris.
He is survived by his wife Laura Morris; daughter Sandy (Graham) Bailey of Sherwood, Ark.; two sisters, Phyllis Farinelli of Elgin Texas, Shirley Patton of Carmichel, Calif.; stepdaughters Theresa Jordan (Bill) Gurthie of Muncy, Penn.; Beth Lehmann (Dan) Maxey of Amity, Ark.; Lori (Greg) Barlow of Mt. Vernon, Ark.; Teri Love of Cabot, Ark.; stepsons Richard (Terry) Lehmann of Ft. Worth, Texas; Marty (Christy) Organ and Jim Organ, both of Cabot, Ark.; cousin Millie Harris of Heber Springs, Ark.; three grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren and special friend Robert Love.
Mr. Morris attended First Lutheran Church, Little Rock, St. Edwards Catholic Church, Little Rock, St. Lukes Episcopal Church, North Little Rock and was currently a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Little Rock.
The family would like to express thanks to Baptist Health Hospice, the physicians, nurses, medical related personnel, friends, church members and neighbors, for their care, prayers and support during our loved ones illness.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 2, 2008, 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 509 Scott St., Little Rock, visitation with family 30 minutes preceding the service. Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Ave., North Little Rock, Ark.
His request was to be cremated. Cremation services by Huson Funeral Home, Sherwood, Ark.
