Harold "Curt" Curtiss Shaddox

Harold Curtiss Shaddox, 86, left this earth on March 5, 2025 in Conway to be with the Lord. He was born on July 23, 1938 in Western Grove, Arkansas to Hiram and Lillian (Sullivan) Shaddox.

Curt earned his degree at the University of Arkansas after spending his first two years of college at Arkansas Tech where he had just turned seventeen. He was a Civil Engineer working many years for the Arkansas Highway Department, several construction companies, and at one time served as City Engineer of Harrison. Over the course of his career, he lived in many communities all over the state. But when given the opportunity to move back to Harrison in 1972, he took it and made it home for his family. He was a longtime member of Northside Church of Christ. He enjoyed spending time with his family whether that was on the farm or around the game table, time spent outdoors, and playing with his grandkids. He inherited from his dad the ability to keenly observe life and find humor in almost every part of it. He was a good friend to many and always willing to help anyone who needed it. He was soft spoken, never wanting the spotlight on himself. He was a hard worker and his gentle spirit led him to listen more than he ever spoke. He could tell a story better than anyone. He sacrificially cared for his wife daily during the final years of her life.

He is survived by his two daughters, Rochelle (Shelly) Brown of Ft. Smith, and Tamara Hodges (Mark) of Little Rock, his four grandchildren, Meredith Brown of Harrah, OK, Ashton Hodges of Atlanta,GA, Bethany Brown of Little Rock, and Harrison Hodges of Fayetteville, AR and one great-granddaughter, Poppy June Hodges, and several nieces and nephews that were dear to him.

Curt was preceded in death by his wife, Reba, and brothers, Bob, Bill, and Jim, and sisters, Betty Jo Cowell and Dorothy Paden, his parents, and in-laws, Frank and Madgie McCutcheon.

A celebration of Curt’s life will be held Monday, March 10 at 11 a.m. in the chapel at the Western Grove Cemetery. The family will be there at 10 a.m. to receive any friends and family that might want to stop by before the service. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Northside Church of Christ World Missions in Harrison, AR.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to all the people who lovingly cared for and served Curt and Reba so well during their time at Salem Place.
