December 28, 1943 — March 30, 2020

Harold Caldwell

Harold Eugene (Gene) Caldwell, 76, of Maumelle departed this world to be with his Lord and Saviour on March 30, 2020. He was born December 28, 1943 in Pontotoc, Mississippi to Walter Herman and Cora Elizabeth Baskin Caldwell.  After graduation from Pontotoc High School, he joined the U.S. Army and finished his military service at the rank of Sergeant in South Korea.  He worked for Bridgestone/Firestone for 38 years prior to retiring in 2004. He worked as a store manager of the Tupelo, MS store and the last 28 years on the district staff covering stores in Arkansas, North Louisiana and East Texas.

Gene was an avid outdoorsman with a love for fishing, hunting and golfing where he spent many hours of his retirement.  He was a member of Cedar Height Baptist Church where he served many years as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and chairman of several committees.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Gloria and his two sons; Christopher Shane Caldwell and wife Kayla of Conway; Jeffrey Eugene Caldwell and wife Becky of Little Rock; brothers Wayne Caldwell (Diana) of Bryant; Jimmy Caldwell  (Linda) of Corinth, MS; Mary Davis of Pontotoc, MS; and Joan Harrison of Pontotoc, MS. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Shane, Nathaniel, Katelyn and Jonathan of Conway; and Avery and Ethan Caldwell of Little Rock.

So...I was born; I blinked and it was over.  No buildings were named after me. No monuments erected in my honor. But I did have the chance to know and love each and every friend, as well as all my family members. How much more blessed can a person be?

Due to the recent COVID-19 events, a private celebration of life service will be held with Bro. Charlie Winters officiating.  Friends and family can join online at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 2, 2020 at www.facebook.com/SmithNorthLittleRockFuneralHome .

Burial will be at Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cedar Heights Baptist Church in North Little Rock in his memory.
