Harold P. Banasky, a cherished member of the Stuttgart community peacefully departed this life on January 21, 2025, in Maumelle, Arkansas. He was born on May 6, 1934, in Stuttgart, Arkansas,

A proud veteran, Harold served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1962, with his service taking him both throughout the U.S. and in Germany. 

Retiring at the age of 85 from Jimmy Sanders, Inc., Harold’s professional journey was marked by significant accomplishments. He was an active member of the American Legion since 1955, a distinction that highlighted his dedication to the values and camaraderie that the organization stands for. During his career, he also contributed to the Association of Hospital Engineers from 1971 to 1978 and earned accolades such as the Kiwanian of the Year in 1982. His contributions to his community were further recognized when he was nominated for Citizen of the Year by the Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce in 1983.

Harold is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Frances Graham Banasky, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. His daughter, Sharon Shumate (Tim); his grandchildren include: Magen Rodriguez (Jared), Morgan Evins (Jonathan); great-grandchildren: Hunter Rodriguez (Emily), Brianna Rodriguez and Benjamin Evins; and great-great-grandchild, Wrenley Rodriguez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Paul Banasky, two sisters and a brother.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. As he requested, his body was donated to UAMS Medical School and no services will be held. To honor Harold, donations may be made to the Museum of the Grand Prairie or Stuttgart Animal Shelter.
