Harland C. Sanders, age 94, of Austin, Arkansas, passed away on December 30, 2023.
He was born December 12, 1929, in Garland County, Arkansas. the son of Harry and Ruby Sanders. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, one brother, and two half-sisters.
Harland was a man to remember, he was a graduate of Lake Hamilton High School class of 1950. After high school he was a member of the United States Army during the Korean conflict where he served in radio communications, stationed out of California. Once out of the Army he moved to Seattle and worked for Boeing on the early 707 passenger jets. Shortly after he moved back to Arkansas and attended the Draughon School of Business in Little Rock, this then landed him in his career for Teletype from 1958-1987. In 1960 he married the love of his life Carolyn Miniard then went on to grow his family of two daughters and one son. Aside from work he raised a large garden and would gift neighbors the fruits and vegetables he raised. He also had the exceptional gift for raising cattle. Harland was a hardworking man that would give anything he could to help people and instilled those values into his children.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Carolyn Miniard Sanders; two daughters, Teresa (Mike) Scheuter and Bonnie (Art) Heathcock; son Neal (Tisha) Sanders; sister Yvonne (Gene) George; seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Services will be held January 5, 2024 at Smith Family Funeral Home - Hot Springs. Visitation will be at 10:00am with the service following at 11:00am with Harry Crabtree and Lee Floyd officiating.
Pallbearers will be: Matthew Scheuter, Nathan Scheuter, Josh Heathcock, Harrison Sanders, Art Heathcock, and Mike Scheuter.
Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hot Springs, AR.
