Harlan Nickles

Harlan Ross Nickles, 81, of North Little Rock passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008. He was a U.S. Navy veteran from 1944-1946 during World War II as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was in the South Pacific from 1950 ? 1952 as a Deck Force Seaman. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Masonic Lodge #749 for 35 years, a Master Mason, a member of Levy Baptist Church for 61 years and worked for Missouri Pacific/Union Pacific Railroad for 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Lillie Belle Evans Nickles; parents, John Leonard and Ellen Tigert Nickles; and his son, Michael Ross Nickles. He is survived by two children, Dr. Steve Harlan Nickles and wife, Ellen, of Winston Salem, North Carolina and Deborah Ann Nickles, of Omaha, Nebraska; and two grandchildren, Ellen Marie Nickles and Thomas George Nickles.
Memorials may be made to Levy Baptist Church, 3501 Pike Avenue, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 P.M., Thursday at Levy Baptist Church. Burial will be in Edgewood Memorial Park. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
