Guthrie Odom

Guthrie Armond Odom, 89, of Cabot, Arkansas, who was born February 12, 1920, to Melton C. and Emma Odom, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009. He was formerly employed by the Ordnance Plant, Redmond Motors, Miller Ford, and Cabot School System as a bus driver. He also was a cattleman his entire life. Guthrie was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marstella Edwards Odom and his parents. Also preceding him were four sisters, Clarice Revely, Marie Fisher, Wilma Vanderhoff, Emma Jean Golden; and three brothers, Willie Durham, Herman Odom and Arden Odom.
Guthrie is survived by two daughters, Beckie Brooks (Harold) of Jacksonville and Joy Siegel (Marshall) of Dallas, Texas; three sons, Randall Odom (Beth) of Evening Shade, Larry Odom (Sandy) of Cabot and Jack Odom (Jeanne) of Cabot; eleven grandchildren, Kerry Brooks (Laura) of Little Rock, Kenneth Brooks (Kyong) of Navarre, Florida, Tim Odom (Leslie) of Cabot, David Odom (Lori) of Searcy, Scott Cranford (Tammi) of Calera, Oklahoma, Chad Cranford (Brandi) of Dallas, Texas, Michael Odom (Crystal) of Butlerville, Christen Odom, Stephanie Odom, Micah Odom and Mark Odom, all of Cabot; two step-grandchildren, Kenny Young and Bryan Young, both of Little Rock; thirteen great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Jordan and Jill Brooks, Michelle and Angie Brooks, Allie and Brooke Cranford, Zoey and Gage Cranford, Bridget Odom, Aimee Odom and Rilee Odom; two step-great-great-grandchildren, Haley Little and Sidney Peters; nieces, Joyce Oliver, Carolyn Waddington, Marlene Sawyer and Wignon Mowery; nephews, John Vanderhoff, Hubert Odom and Flynn Revely; and his second family at Knight's Grocery and Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
The family wishes to express their appreciation and thanks to Dr. and Mrs. Abrams and his staff.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Sunday school class members and Knight's Coffee Buddies.
