Grady Lee Smallwood, retired US Army (LTC), passed away November 28, 2022. He was born in Wichita Falls, TX on October 21, 1930, to the late John Leonard Smallwood and Agnes Jordan Smallwood. He graduated from Texas A&M, class of 1952. He was the president of the Senate at Texas A&M, 4th session, Student Government Association, from 1951-1952.
Grady fought in the Korean War and had two tours in Vietnam. He was dedicated to ballroom dancing with his amazing dance instructor, Lisa Kirkpatrick. They entered dance competitions throughout his 30 years of ballroom dancing. Ballroom dancing was a perfect match for his vitality and zest for life.
He is survived by his brother, John Smallwood of Abilene, TX; sister, Betty Biegaj of California; son, Grady L. Smallwood, II of Jupiter, FL; his two daughters, Elizabeth M. Smallwood, and Sheri S. Smallwood; granddaughter, Ashley M. Smallwood of Jupiter, FL.
A visitation will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday December 3, 2022, at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct, Little Rock. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am on Monday December 5, 2022, at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct, Little Rock followed by interment at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W Maryland Ave, North Little Rock.
