Grace Lillian Dodd Kirkpatrick passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the age of 91. She was born July 31, 1923 in Harrison, Arkansas to George Oliver Mount and Elsie Mae (Villines) Mount. Due to pain from osteoporosis in her back, she has prayed for a long time to go to heaven. She has now been granted her prayer.
Grace was an excellent seamstress and cook in her younger days. She loved decorating for the holidays and entertaining family and friends. She made her two daughters' clothes, including coats. She also sewed for her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She absolutely loved children and spoke to all of them that looked her way. Although she never learned to drive a car she always made sure her family was always in church.
She is predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Riley Cleveland Dodd and her second husband, Roland Alvin Kirkpatrick; one daughter, Virginia Gross; one brother, Dr. J.W. Mount; three sisters, Opal Rowland, Ruth Holmes, and Betty Wasson.
She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Kirkpatrick (Elton); five grandchildren, Kimberly Jewell (Tony), Jason Kirkpatrick, Rodney Gross, Jerry Gross, and Darla Smith (Larry); and four great-grandchildren, Breanna Jewell, Braxton Jewell, Luke Smith and John Smith.
The family wants to thank the staff, nurses, and doctor at Southern Trace Rehab and Care and the Arkansas Hospice staff for their excellent care of Grace.
Grace loved Jesus, her family, her church family, Sunday School teacher and Pastor Rod and missed not being able to go to church.
