Glynn Edward Smith
December 16, 1952 ~ February 7, 2010
Glynn was best known for his ready smile and kind spirit. He was a son, a brother, a husband, father, uncle, nephew, cousin, grandfather, and friend. Glynn is preceded in death by his father, W.J. Smith. He is survived by his wife: Catherine Smith, parents: Gary and Annie Jane Spence of Benton, AR, two sons: Chad Smith of Greenbrier, AR and Todd Smith of Benton, AR, his step-children: Amie Cannon of Belleville, IL and Jeremy Thornton of Benton, AR, one sister: Jackie Davenport of Houston, TX, one brother: Lee Smith of Lake Wales, FL, eleven grandchildren, many nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
Glynn was a proud member of the United States Air Force from 1972 to 1978. His Air Force career was marked by many accomplishments including receiving the Outstanding Airman of the Year award. Other awards and achievements during his Air Force career were the Marksmanship Metal 1974, Nat'l Defense Medal, Commendation Medal and 1st runner-up Airman of the Quarter, Little Rock AFB. He was also involved in the American Nat'l Red Cross, the March of Dimes, Big Brothers Association, and the Boy's Club.
He was an active member and served as an usher at the First Pentecostals of Benton where he made many friends, he was always eager and willing to serve others with a ready smile and a warm welcoming spirit. His infectious smile, his warmth and his charming personality will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Services will be held at Peaceful Haven Funeral Home in Benton, AR 501-778-7100. Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 11th, 2010 between 6pm to 8pm. The funeral will be Friday Feb. 12th, 2010 at 10:00am.
