Gloria Groves

Gloria Ann Thomas Groves, 70, of Little Rock, passed away February 3, 2021.  She was born May 18, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Lloyd and Susan Yarbrough.

Gloria was a strong, faithful Christian who shared the love of God through her singing and her ministry. She was a devoted, loving wife, sister, mother and grammy.

She married her first love Reverend Earl Ray Thomas in 1966. She was a pastor’s wife, Sunday school teacher, and a youth pastor until his death in 1985.

Gloria then married her second love, William Edward Groves, Sr., together they stood by their vows as a proud, honorable family. They enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and going to flea markets and antique malls until her passing.

Gloria is preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Ray Thomas and her parents, Lloyd and Susan Yarbrough.

She is survived by her second love, William Groves, Sr.; four daughters, Teresa (James) Clonts of Missouri, Lisa (Tim) Cole of Rison, Tammy Thomas of East End, and Stephanie (Aaron) Stinson, also of East End; three step-children, Martha Elizabeth, Brandi Rowe, and William Edward Groves, Jr.; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers; three sisters; and a slew of nieces and nephews.

Gloria’s love was abundant. When she smiled she would light up the room. She was blessed with the gift of wisdom, knowledge, and she loved to sing with her daughters. She had a giving heart and helped anyone in need. She was a blessing and a joy to be around. She was a stranger to no one. With each song she sang, the angels in heaven rejoiced. She will be greatly missed by many.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM followed by the funeral at noon on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Ironton Assembly of God, Little Rock.  Interment will follow in Ivy Chapel Cemetery.
