Glenda Lois Compton Gilbreath, 68, of Sherwood, formerly of Conway went to sing with the Angels on Monday, June 6, 2011. She was born May 28, 1943 in Altheimer, Arkansas to the late Elmer G. and Effie Melissa Kelly Compton. She was a member of First Pentecostal Church of North Little Rock, was a song writer, musician, singer, Sunday school teacher and always active in the work of the Lord. Glenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jesse Gilbreath, of Sherwood; daughters, Jessica Gilbreath, of Conway, DeAnn Whitfield (David), of Sherwood, and Melissa Brock (Mike), of Star City; son, James Gilbreath, of Conway; eight grandsons, Seth Whitfield (Amy) of North Little Rock, Caleb Whitfield, of Sherwood, Todd and Donavan Gilbreath, of Shelburne, Indiana, Kai Gilbreath, of Conway, Casey, Anthony and Jacob Brock, of Star City; one granddaughter, Anna Whitfield, of Sherwood; and four sisters, Marie Brown, of Little Rock, Alline Compton, of Beebe, Martha Vickers, of Nashville and Betty Bailey, of Conway. She was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters.
Memorials may be made to First Pentecostal Church, 1401 Calvary, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday at First Pentecostal Church in North Little Rock. Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the church. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170.
