Gladys M. Sorrells

Gladys was blessed with a lovely autumn day to meet her Lord and Savior in Heaven. With her daughters holding her and praying over her, she peacefully left her earthly body of 98 yrs.

This Beautiful Southern Woman came into this world with a smile on her face and joy in her heart.  Her life was full of the fruits of the Holy Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness and Gentleness, and Self Control. She lived with purpose; to give The Fruit away to all who knew her!

After the end of World War II, she met and married Jimmy Sorrells. They were a beautiful couple, inside and out. In Glenwood AR, they put down roots to love and raise 2 daughters. Family gatherings with aunts, uncles, cousins happened often. Razorback football, swimming in the Caddo River (on hot summer days), and sipping ice tea while relaxing at the farm watching grand-kids grow….well it “filled them up!”

Too early in their retirement years Jimmy was called to meet his savior. Gladys, with her great faith, prayed to find her new purpose and the right place to now call home. With courage she moved to Montana to be close to her daughter Janna, and family. For the next 28 years she shared her smile and made many new friends. Gladys was a cherished volunteer at Kalispell Regional Hospital and humbly accepted being voted volunteer of the year without mentioning it to her family! Mystery tours about the North West with a cherished travel group, Bible Study, lots of party bridge, and gathering with her City Brew Coffee friends rounded out her days!

Gladys blessed her 3 Grandchildren with a gift of being their most loving Nanny. She championed them with her unconditional love, wisdom, and was their tireless prayer warrior for all their needs. As Great Grands entered her world she would sit, smile, and marvel at all their loveliness and energy!

Later years of COVID, and isolation in her Assisted Living, required her to once again to go deep in her faith for strength. In October of 2020, she joyfully came to share Janna

and Mick’s home.

In 2022 all 3 packed up and were “Omaha Bound” to be closer to family! Her Mantra when asked how she was doing was always the same…Mighty Fine, I don’t have time for a bad day! We all need to practice that one!

Those charged with carrying forward her legacy of faith, joyful smile, and positive attitude include: daughters, Janna Sullivan (Mick), and Mary Jane Herr (Tommy); cherished grands: Wes Herr, Magen Stewart (Jay), Joe Sullivan (Dina); Precious Great Grands: Maddox Herr, Addison Stewart, Luke Sullivan and James Sullivan; Brother, Bob Wisener; beloved nieces, nephews, and all her family by marriage.
