Gladys Turner Putt, 99, while surrounded by family at home, went to her heavenly home on March 11, 2021. She was born to James Harvey Turner and Myrtle Ardean Vincent in Hickory Plains, Arkansas on November 18, 1921.
She had to drop out of school in the 9th grade at age 14 to help her dad raise her brothers and sisters after her mom passed. She met the love of her life, AZ Putt in 1945 and they were married January 1, 1946. From this union came four children, Ricky, Roger “Anthony”, Joy and Janice. In 1969 they made their home in Cabot, Arkansas. She remained in that home for the rest of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband AZ, sons Ricky and Anthony, and sister Ardath Rogers.
Gladys is survived by her daughters Joy (Brent) Thomas of Mechanicville, New York, Janice (Rick) Watson of Beebe, and daughter-in-law Dorothy Putt of Cabot. She is also survived by one sister, Neicy Covington of Ward, and two brothers, James “Archie” Turner of Russellville, and Doyne Turner of Hickory Plains. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Cabot First United Methodist Church, with burial in Hickory Plains Cemetery.
