Gladys Marshall

Gladys Bennett Marshall, 96, of Ward, Arkansas, went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 17, 2010. She was a member of Sylvania Presbyterian Evangelical Church. Mrs. Marshall (Mrs. Gladys as all her students called her) retired after teaching for thirty-seven years. Her teaching career started at Woodlawn where she taught for a short period of time and finished her career teaching first and second grades at Ward. She enjoyed working in her flowers and always enjoyed the spring watching each little flower pop up and bloom.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-six years, Bill Marshall; her parents, J. R. and Ida Bennett; granddaughter, Marchelle (Kirk) Thebeau; sisters Edith Martin and Blanche Jones; brothers Buster Bennett and Cleo Dobbs.
She is survived by her daughter, Faye Kirk; two grandchildren, Jeanette (Kirk) Boyles and Doug Kirk, Jr; one great-granddaughter, Brittany Boyles, all of Ward; one niece, Marjorie Bell of Cabot; three nephews, Jack Dobbs of Hot Springs Village, Garth Martin of Little Rock and Marvin Bennett of Hot Springs.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Sylvania Cemetery.
