Gereta Lavern (Skinner) Brown, 85, of Mayflower, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 1, 2018, with her devoted family by her side. She was born November 5, 1933 in Damascus, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Lee and Pearl (Harris) Skinner. Her husband, B. C. Brown also preceded her in death. She was one of eight children, Johnny Skinner, William Skinner, Lou Constant, Ruby Coleman, Betsy Jackson, who all preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Candy Copeland.
Sister Brown was saved 68 years ago and has had a close relationship with and followed Jesus Christ every step of her life. She was 17 years old when she met the love of her life, B. C. Brown of Rison. On February 27, 1953, in Faith, Arkansas, they became husband and wife and started their journey together. Sister Brown was a home maker, she and her husband had five daughters. Sister Brown always lived her life looking toward Heaven. She lived her whole life as a Godly woman.
Sister Brown was a member of Northside Apostolic Church in Mayflower, where she received the award of âMother of the Yearâ in 2007. She enjoyed many things which varied from quilting, working puzzles, fishing, watching birds, working in her flowers, and cooking for her girls and family.
Left to cherish her legacy are her children, Eva Causey and husband Jack, of Beebe; Agnes Lou Johnson of Center Ridge, Arkansas; Rita Norwood and husband Robert of Mayflower; Lila Teas and husband Larry of Center Ridge; Charlotte Copeland and husband Tim also of Center Ridge; twenty-four grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; honorary daughters, Janice Teague and husband Jimmy of Jonesville, Louisiana; Ann Fulmer and husband Paul of Cabot, Arkansas. A sister, Virgie Coleman and a brother, Ray Skinner.
A visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Tuesday, December 4, 2018, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Conway. Sister Brownâs funeral will be 1:00pm, Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Northside Apostolic Church in Mayflower, with Brothers Keith Morris and Larry Pearce officiating. Burial will follow in Mayflower Cemetery, under the direction of Griffin Leggett Conway.
