Geraldine White

Geraldine L. Freitas White, 80, of Beebe, Arkansas, died Monday, February 16, 2015. She was born on January 4, 1935 at Makawao, Maui, Hawaii, the eighth of nine children.

After completing her education, she left for Orange Co. California where she became a postulant of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Catholic nuns. While there she completed an Associates Degree in Education.

After deciding to remain in the order, she went to Honolulu Hawaii, where she met and married her husband, John P. White who was stationed at nearby Hickam Field serving in the Air Force. They were married in 1955 and moved on to many different bases in the mainland of the U.S.

Retiring to Arkansas in 1969, she lived the life of a housewife and mother until her death.

She was a lifelong Catholic and was a member of the third order of lay Carmelites.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister as well as two of her sons, Robert and Jim White.

She is survived by three sisters; one daughter, Renee Minicozzi; two sons, John H. White II, and Jeffrey White. She has three granddaughters, one grandson, and many nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Smith - Westbrook Funeral Home.

The funeral service scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday has been cancelled due to the weather. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
