Geraldine McGehee went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Baptist Health in Little Rock. She was born February 4, 1930 to the late Rev. Willie and Nearlene McGehee in Hot Spring, Arkansas. She attended Langston High School and graduated from Cosmetology School. She retired in 1990 due to health reasons. She was employed formerly by the Arlington Hotel, Ouachita Hospital, and Lakewood Nursing Home.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Willie Simmons and her beloved daughter-in-law, Franci; her beloved granddaughter, Esther. She stressed education and most of all had a genuine love of God and people. Her favorites were good food, pets, a good cup of coffee and meeting people. She was affectionately known as ?Gerrie? to her friends, she leaves a host of friends in Hot Springs, Little Rock and her beloved friend, Janine McGehee of Memphis, Tennessee to cherish her memories.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, 909 West 2nd Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201 or American Cancer Society, 901 N. University Avenue, Little Rock, Arkansas 72207.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Baptist Health of Little Rock, ICU South, staff of St. Joseph?s Mercy Medical Center in Hot Springs and the staff of Pleasant Valley Living Center in Little Rock for their kindness in caring for our mother during her three month battle. We would also like to thank the staff of North Little Rock Funeral Home for their compassion and care in planning the home going services of our mother. May God bless you richly!
A graveside service will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Friendship Cemetery in Hot Springs with Minister Clifton McGowan officiating. There will be no family hour.
