Geraldine Maddox Powell, 93, of North Little Rock, passed away on March 9, 2010. She was born on July 5, 1916 in Higginson, Arkansas.
She is predeceased by her mother and father, Rilla and Solon Powell, her brothers, Paul, C.K., and Jack Powell and her sisters, Mammie Ruth Neaville, Juanita Smith and Flora Ann Ray. She is survived by her sister, Mildred Powell Chandler (Bill), brother, Don E. Powell (Louise), sister-in-law, Jane Powell, and many nieces and nephews.
She has lived and been under the special care of her niece, Liz Mercer and husband, Joey, of Rison, for the past few years. She served her country during World War II in the United States Navy, working in intelligence. She co-owned, along with her sister, Juanita, Fern's Style Shop and Children's Bazaar on Main Street in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Christ in the Tetons, P.O. Box 7562, Jackson, Wyoming 83002.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock. Following the service the family will be at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Billy Chandler, 2916 Justin Matthew Drive, North Little Rock.
