Gerald Kenworthy

Gerald L. Kenworthy, 82, of Little Rock, passed away April 21, 2017. Born in Axtell, Kansas to Voile James Kenworthy and Alberta Ruth Rush Kenworthy, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sally Jean Kenworthy and his son, Steven Kenworthy, he is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Lee of Tampa, Florida and Christine Kanakis of Jacksonville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jacob Lee, Jessica Saul (Jared), Brittany Kanakis (Lindsey) and Morgan Kanakis; great-grandchildren, Jack Saul and Julian Saul; and brother, Robert Kenworthy (Virginia) of Greenbrier.

After serving this country that he loved so much and retiring as a Sr. Master Sergeant, Jerry, along with his wife, devoted themselves to caring for Steven, their disabled son, for the next 37 years. He always said he served his country for 20 years, served his son for 37 years and then cared for his ill wife the last four years of her life. Due to Steven's Cerebral Palsy, Jerry became quite involved with United Cerebral Palsy of Arkansas and served on their Board of Directors as Vice Chairman since 2010.

Jerry enjoyed tending to his roses; caring for the memorial garden he designed in honor of Steven; doting on his adoring canine companion, Bridget; rooting for the Arkansas Razorbacks; and spending time with his family and neighbors whom he loved and considered family.

Services will be held on Thursday, April 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Donald Hall. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to United Cerebral Palsy of Arkansas, 9720 N. Rodney Parham Rd., Little Rock, AR 72227

Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., (501)224-2200. Jerry's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
