Gerald William Allday, 76, of Alexander, Arkansas passed away peacefully Friday, June 19, 2015 after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Borger, Texas, January 25, 1939 to Ira Ralph and Dortha Lee O'Rear Allday. Jerry and Peggy Echols Allday were married on July 19, 1991 and have had a very happy life together.
In addition to his wife Jerry is survived by three sons, Gerald William Allday Jr., Jeff B. Allday, Tony Echols and one daughter, Connie Dee Cantu. Jerry is survived by eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Emma and Gideon Allday, three grandchildren from the Cantu family and Coty and Casie Echols. Jerry is survived by two brothers, Richard Cheatham and Lee Cheatham and one sister, Carol Mosher, Uncle Bill O'Rear, Aunt Ree Hammes and many cousins.
Jerry moved to Arkansas from Dallas Texas in 1962 and worked in industrial construction most of his life. He loved to golf and the comradery of friends and family. Jesus was Jerry's hero and he had all of Jesus' quotes memorized.
Services are under the direction of Smith-Benton Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be presided by Buddy Holderfield at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ferndale, Arkansas at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015.
