Georgia Rhea Berry

Georgia Rhea Ussery Berry, age 80, of Little Rock, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Monday November 28, 2022, on the 58th wedding anniversary to her “Sweetie” and best friend, Alvin. She was born on October 31, 1942, to the late Frances Mattingly Ussery.

Georgia Rhea was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.  She was a devout Catholic and participated in the Cursillo community for many years.

She was a graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing and continued in the nursing profession in many positions, including Director of Nursing at St. Vincent Infirmary.  She was highly respected in the nursing community.  She could make things happen in a positive way, always praising her co-workers and always reminding each other of “why we were there -- for the patients”. She gave her all to her family and her nursing career.

For those who knew her in her earlier years, she could always be found at her children’s baseball, football and basketball games, and dance recitals, being the “super cheerleader” for each and every one of them.

In her later years, to the amazement of all, she enjoyed the outdoors at Little Fir on Lake Ouachita. She, her husband, and family enjoyed her newfound hobbies of fishing and nature.

Her family will always have her on their shoulders, knowing she will help them remember what the important things are in life - loving and giving. Her sister will forever remember all the many years of friendship, laughing, and support. Her grandchildren and great grandchild will always feel the love of their Data no matter where they are in their lives.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Alvin Kelly Berry; her children Kelly Rhea Berry Johnson (Scott) of Little Rock; Michael Joseph Berry (Del) of Subiaco; and John Douglas Berry (Dawn) of Little Rock; her grandchildren, D.J., Baylee, Michael, Mitchell, Austin and Mary Morgan; great-granddaughter, Ansley all residing in Arkansas; and her sister, Frances Kaye Ussery Fawcett (Joey) of Gulfport, Florida.

The family would like to thank Briarwood Nursing and Rehab for their excellent care and compassion in taking care of our parents. The management, staff and nurses went the extra mile for our mom and continue to pour out their love to our dad as he struggles to live without mom by his side. We will be forever grateful. Thank you also to Gentiva Hospice for helping our mom live her final days with dignity and pain free.
