Georgia "Marie" Bedford, born January 15, 1923 departed this life March 7, 2017. She was a member of Park Place Baptist Church in central Arkansas. She leaves behind one daughter, Faye Atkins Bolin, one step-daughter, Paulette West, three granddaughters, Kelly Prather, Katrina Hargan and Christina Johnson, seven great-grandchildren, Kayla Marie Yount, Josh and Jacob Prather, Andrew Arndt, Alexis Fernald, Haley Payne and Deven Hughes, and three great-great-grandchildren, Kynslee and Emery Yount and Hunter Hamillton. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Herman D. Atkins and Dr. W.O. Bedford, her parents, J.W. & Zelie Roberts and four siblings Hazel Phillips, Herman Roberts, Velma Caldwell and J.W. Roberts.
Marie was married to Herman Dale Atkins for 24 years. In 1943 she gave birth to their only child Mary Faye Atkins Bolin while Herman was in active duty during WWII. After Herman returned home, they eventually owned Atkins Service Station in North Little Rock where Marie could frequently be found pumping gas, wiping windshields and providing customer service to their patrons. She spent many hours volunteering for school related activities and community service. After Herman's death in 1963, Marie continued to successfully manage Atkins Service Station for several years on her own.
In 1967, she married Dr. W.O. Bedford and gained a step-daughter, Paulette West. Marie was a strong supporter of Bill in his chiropractic practice, traveling with him on various business trips and conventions and helping him maintain his practice in Little Rock until he retired.
Marie was an active member of Park Place Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member of the Soul Winners Sunday School class and enjoyed all church activities. She was committed to visiting and meeting the needs of those who were sick or hospitalized and extending a helping hand to anyone in need. Marie and Bill later became residents at Good Shepherd Retirement Community, where she continued to reside after his death in 2008, after 41 years of marriage. Throughout her lifetime, Marie always enjoyed spending time with her family. She continued to attend dance recitals, sporting events, birthday parties, weddings and all activities related to them well into her 90's when she became homebound by health issues. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by them all.
