George V. Donaldson

George V. Donaldson, age 77, of Kirby, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017. He was born on November 5, 1940 in Clarks, Louisiana, the son of Arthur F. Donaldson and Willie Mae Sutton Donaldson. On September 14, 1960, he was married to Jewel Smith who preceded him in death on February 14, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Chad Carter; his granddaughter, Denee Porter; his parents; two brothers, Frank Donaldson and Art Donaldson; and two sisters, Nellie Willis and Mary McAllister. He was assistant pastor of the Midway Full Gospel Church and a veteran of the United States Navy. He loved music and was a wonderful musician and songwriter. He enjoyed stock car racing and loved being with family. To him, God and family were the most important things in life, that, and his precious "Jewel." He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, George "Boots" and BJ Donaldson of Kirby; four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Joe Tigue of Kirby; Linda and Cecil Carter of Bonnerdale, Shirley and Glen Montgomery of Poyen and Lisa and Larry Porter of Kirby; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 10, 2017, in the Midway Cemetery with Bro. George W. "Boots" Donaldson and Bro. Billy Thomason officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Clayton Carter, Kevin Tigue, Stevie Ledbetter, Todd Young, Andre Ford and George A. Donaldson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dallas Young, Chase Wilson and Dennis Cook. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
