George Homer Stebbins, Jr., 48, of Little Rock, was welcomed into the arms of his heavenly father on Saturday, January 23, 2010. Born October 19, 1961 in Little Rock, Arkansas, he was the only son of Martha Alice Stebbins and the late George Homer Stebbins, Sr. In his last few weeks of life, George drew even closer to God and surrounded himself around ones who loved him dearly. He was a son, brother, uncle and most importantly, a father.
George grew up in Southwest Little Rock and attended McClellan High. He was an excellent small engine mechanic and enjoyed the challenge of fixing things. He used this talent to help others which lead to meeting and making of many friends. His infectious laughter and sense of humor was sure to bring joy to others. George had a big heart and kindness was a gift he shared often. Nothing in the world meant more to him than his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by his son, Cody Stebbins of Benton; his mother, Martha Stebbins of Little Rock; older sisters, Kathy Morshedi (Sasan) of Houston, Texas, Phyllis Sullivan (Tony) of Bryant, Patsy Hale of Benton, and younger sisters, Rebecca Moreno (Ray) of Sherwood and Marcia Ketterman (Will) of Bryant; nine nephews, five nieces, twelve great-nieces and nephews; children of the heart, Stetson and Lexi; someone dear to his heart, Becky Darner of Jacksonville; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday, January 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock, with Pastor Will Deerman officiating. Interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove Trail, Royal, Arkansas. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 27, from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 1111 W. Markham St., Little Rock, AR 72201.
