George Moreland

George Moreland, 80, of Roland passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013. He was a member of Natural Steps Baptist Church, the Scottish Rite and a 32nd Degree Mason who was a perpetual member of Roland Lodge 508. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. From swings, jewelry boxes, banks, and many other treasured items; "Created by God, built by George Moreland." One of his greatest passions was when turkey and deer season came around. At age 79 he killed his heaviest turkeya�"25 pounds.
He is survived by his wife, of 46 years, Kay Bivins Moreland; children, Beverley (Mark) Lackey, Dianne (Gordon) Phillips, Marie (Scott) Huie, Tammy (Lee) Lambert and Tim (Belle) Moreland; sister-in-law, Billie Moreland; fourteen grandchildren, Shane (Brittany) Katilius, Brian (Lindsay) Katilius, Scott (Cassie) Lackey, Renee Lackey, Anna Phillips, Rachel Huie, Sarah Huie, Hannah Huie, Leah Huie, Randi (Jackson) Prater, Jackelyn (Chris) Racey, Timothy Moreland, Jr., Brad Woods and Chelsea (Greg) Philpot; five great-grandchildren, Evie and Elijah Katilius, Tristan Katilius, Kavanaugh Lackey and Rylee Prater. He was preceded in death by his parents, B.L. Moreland Sr. and Lena Lockert Moreland; and four brothers, Perry, Bart Jr., Kenneth and Hershel Moreland.
A graveside service with Masonic Rites will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday at Natural Steps Cemetery. A visitation will be from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m., Monday, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at Natural Steps Baptist Church.
