George McCool

George W. McCool Jr., 92, of Sherwood began his life on November 13, 1923 in Wheatley, Arkansas. He married Virginia Shepherd and moved to Sherwood to raise their family. They enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with family at Lake Atkins. He was a WWII Veteran who served in the U.S. Army as a Medical Corpman and worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad for 27 years. He loved fishing, collecting trains, breakfast at Waffle House and non-filtered Camels. He was known as "PePaw" to many. He enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He'll be forever loved and remembered by daughter, June, husband Joe Owen; daughter, Gail, husband James Blucker; treasured grandchildren, Vicki McCourt, husband Keith; Christa Darr, husband Roger; Michelle Moore; great grandchildren Timothy and Zachary McCourt, Riley and Samantha Darr, and Emily Moore; niece, Myra Jean Pace; nephew, Buddy Ward and nephews, Ken Boyle and Frankie Shepherd and their families; Cecy King and son David Grisham. He also leaves behind a host of loved neighbors and friends, too many to count.
He left this world on February 27, 2016 to reunite with his son Wayne, his wife of 67 years, Virginia and most recently his grandson, Danny Owen.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 2, at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel, 1921 Main Street. Burial will follow at Arkansas Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 1, at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com .
