George Harold Dawson, 88, of Little Rock, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012. He was born on November 28, 1923 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, one of six children of the late George and Florence (Moir) Dawson. He was a native of Allen Park, Michigan before moving to Little Rock in 1952. George served his country in the U. S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart during WWII. He married Carol Guinn in 1952 who became his wife and best friend for 60 years. He retired from Central Arkansas Water after working there for 32 years. George was a loving husband and father and served God, country and family.
George was a past member at Heritage Baptist Temple and was currently a member of Oak Park Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and there is no doubt he is in heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife Carol Jean (Guinn) Dawson of Little Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Ron Hodges of Little Rock; and Lindsey Bain Hood and Amanda Bain who were like granddaughters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 26 from 5-7 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Oak Park Baptist Church in Little Rock with Pastor David Harris officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
