George David Varner, age 62, of Amity, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014. He was born on March 18, 1952 at Marvell, Arkansas, the son of George Buren Varner and Ella Olean Guin Varner. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Patricia Rogers and Melissa Kay Long. He retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Yeoman and was a logger. He was Assembly of God in his faith. He is survived by three children, Sarah Martin of Montgomery, Alabama, Melissa Varner of Glenwood and John Varner of Murfreesboro; six grandchildren, Brianna Martin, Cameron Martin, Aric Martin, Grayson Bardwell, Rylyn Kay Bardwell and Sadie Varner; his brother, Joey Varner of Alpine; and two sisters, Beverly Killian and Sherry Garner, both of Amity. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 28, 2014 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. David Walker and Bro. Jerry Fagan officiating. Visitation will be Friday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Coker Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robbie Redleaf, Patrick Redleaf, Marty Varner, Josh Killian, Jonathan Long, Bryan Lyons and David Brian Garner. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
