On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, after a long and valiant battle with illness, George (Red) Collins Jr. passed from the loving arms of his family, in his home, to the healing arms of his blessed and glorious Lord and Savior, in Heaven. At the age of 84, he and Justine Morrison Collins, his beloved wife of 65 yrs., have lived the past 52 years in Friendship, Arkansas, where George was born on January 29, 1932.
Arrangements will be handled by Ruggles-Wilcox in Arkadelphia, AR, on Saturday, October 1, with family visitation beginning at 12:30, and a memorial service at 1:30 pm.
George proudly served in the Arkansas National Guard, followed by active duty, driving a transport truck, in the Korean War, 1952-54. Upon return, he was employed by Reynolds Aluminum Company in Arkadelphia, AR.
The youngest son of the late George and Ruth Buck Collins of Arkadelphia, he is predeceased by his two brothers, Raymond Collins and Doy Collins.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife and two children: daughter, Irish Collins Yopp (Ken) of Fairview, TX and son, Tommy Collins (Kandy Ward) of Claremore, OK. He was so proud of his grandchildren: Kayci Battenfield (Kasey) of Broken Arrow, OK; Joshua Collins of Broken Arrow; Trevor Yopp (Lizzy Newsome) of Las Vegas, NV; and Tristan Yopp (Chrissy Dubroc) of Dallas, TX. As well as his precious, great-grandchildren: Alana Collins, Taylor Battenfield, and Graham Yopp.
