George Matt Bradshaw, 93, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 17,2024.
He was born on February 7, 1931, in Gum Springs, to John Henry Bradshaw and Perley Mae Maddox Bradshaw, and is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Bradshaw; his parents; one brother, Johnie James Bradshaw; and three sisters, Rose Coston, Ruth Eastland, and Betty Allen.
George was a 1949 graduate of Arkadelphia High School. He joined the Navy in the fall of 1949 and was a Seaman on the USS Oglethorpe. He married Joyce Maxine Neathery on February 20, 1953. He built their first home in Gum Springs and later moved to Gurdon where he bought a farm and built a new home. He enjoyed cattle farming for many years. He also worked at National Gypsum Co., and International Paper Co. Hobbies included fishing, hunting, and gardening. He loved singing. He was an avid Razorback fan.
He is survived by his sister, Ora Patton of Arkadelphia; one son, Steve Bradshaw (Pam) of Hope; two daughters, Karen Whitfield (Rodney) of Bismarck and Susan Roe (Eddie) of Hot Springs; six grandchildren, Amanda Clements (Brian), Ashley Cole (Aaron), Jessica Cox (Chad), Rebecca Black, Kylie Roe, and Breanna Anderson (Hunter); Ten great-grandchildren, Meadow and Cash Clements, Weston and Alaina Cole, Jarett and Hallie Cox, Briggs and Ramsey Black, R.J. and Olivia Harrison.
Services will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 10:00 am, in Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Chris Morrison officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 9:30 am.
Interment will be in the South Fork Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Clements, Aaron Cole, Chad Cox, Hunter Anderson, Adam Robertson, and Travis Black.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Paul English, the nurses and staff of Quapaw Nursing and Rehabilitation, Arkansas Hospice, Diana Chambers- Area Agency on Aging, and Donna Martin-caregiver, for their compassion and wonderful care.
