George A. Phelps

George A. Phelps, age 70, of Mount Ida, died Friday, October 14, 2011. He was born on February 13, 1941, at Buckeye, Arizona, the son of David Alec Phelps and Myrle Ethel Ivy Phelps. On December 9, 1978, he was married to Wanda Mayberry. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Mount Ida. Survivors are his wife, Wanda Mayberry Phelps of Mount Ida; four children, Anthony Phelps and his wife, Audrey, of Oden, James Scrimshire of Coppers Cove, Texas, Verla Collins and Verby Scrimshire both of Mount Ida; eight grandchildren, David Phelps, Kimberlee Phelps-Coon, Kerra Scrimshire, Autumn Scrimshire, Tyler Reid, Tony Reynolds, Shan Scrimshire and Sean Scrimshire; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 17, 2011, in the Joplin Cemetery with Bro. Paul Burke officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Joe Robertson, (Toby) Tyler Jones, Mike O'Neal, R. D.
