Georganne M. McEwen Smith

Georganne was born on July 2nd, 1942, in Rockaway, New York, where she spent her early years. She later met and married Robert Paul Smith and they moved to Beebe, Arkansas in the late 1960’s where they built their family and lived out their lives. Georgeanne was a stay-at-home mom until her 4 children were older. She then attended college at Arkansas State University where she earned her degree and became a substitute teacher for the Beebe school district. She later became a full-time purchaser at Arkansas State University where she remained for 19 years, retiring in 2002. Throughout her career, she was known for her hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others. That passion was evident in her dedication to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 7769 in Beebe, where she served as President for over 15 years. Additionally, her compassion to others was seen through her selfless giving to many organizations, including Wounded Warriors Project, The Shriner Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Native Americans Heritage and the Humane Society.

More than anything else, Georganne was a devoted mother and friend. She loved spending time with her children/grandchildren, fishing, swimming in her pool, dancing and playing card games with her friends. She was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement to anyone who needed her. Many called her “mom”, and all felt welcomed as they entered her home.

Georganne is survived by her children, Noel (Paul) Stillman of Cabot, AR, Chris Smith (Leslie Brannon), Beebe, AR, Lori (Brad) Otis, Sherwood AR, and Will (Dani) Smith, Beebe, AR. Along with 8 grandchildren, Jake Stillman, Jake Stillman, Fox Stillman, Justin McHale, Sara Smith, Hunter Otis, Nathan Otis, Ava Smith, Cash Smith, Jenna King; sisters, Jayda King, Maddie King, Carmen King, and many others that called her grandma.

Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
