Geneva Porter

Geneva L. Porter , 85, of North Little Rock joined her beloved husband, Marion, in heaven last Thursday, March 20, 2014. She was born September 4, 1928 in Sand Springs, Okla. Due to Alzheimers disease, her last years were in a nursing home in Waco, Tx to be near her primary caregiver, her daughter.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, of 60 years, Marion; parents, Murphy and Willie Gillean; and her brother, Berval Gillean.
She is survived by a large loving family: her son, Rickie & Nancy Porter, and their 3 sons: Jason & Aimee Porter - their 3 children; Jared; and Jacob & Megan Porter - their daughter. Her daughters family; Gwen & Paul Bartsch; grandson & wife, Andy & Kim Hopkins, and their 4 children; and grand-daughter Melody, her husband Mark Cooley, and their 2 children. Also, according to the Lord's mysterious design, as we grieve the loss of Geneva, her first great-great-grandson is being born in El Paso, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks all friends to support the fight against Dementia/Alzheimers in her memory.
Services at North Little Rock Funeral Home are scheduled as follows: Visitation on Sunday from 2-4pm. Then the funeral on Monday at 1pm. On line obituary at www.SmithFamily Cares.com.
