Gene Graves, age 59, of Amity, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.
He was born on November 26, 1962, in Pot Creek, New Mexico, the son of Artis Lee Graves and Allie Mae Carter Graves. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Brenda Faye Finney Graves, who he dearly loved; his nephew, Micah Graves; his special aunt who was like his sister, Tammy Williams; and his sister-in-law, Donna Graves.
He loved to hunt, was an avid outdoorsman and a dirt track racer in his younger years. Gene was an outstanding mechanic and worked in his family business, A&A Wrecker Service, for many years, working side by side with his dad, brothers, and nephews. Above all, Gene was a loving and kind man, who dearly loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shawna Walker Graves of Amity; his children and their spouses, Bobby and Brandi Graves, Cassandra Graves, all of Amity and Shayna and Tim Knoll of Hooks, Texas; his grandchildren, Ashlain, Noah, Cayden, Brenda, Aspen and Carsten; his parents, Artis Lee and Allie Mae Graves of Glenwood; his two brothers and sister-in-law, Gary Graves and Mike and Mona Graves, all of Glenwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 4, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Jeremy Graves officiating.
Visitation will be held Saturday, 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Nelson Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lex Ledbetter, Tim Knoll, Daniel Rodgers, Paul "Boone" Burns, Jr., Harvey Hart and Brent Carter.
Honorary pallbearer will be Mathew Graves.
