Gelene Bates

Gelene (Fecher) Bates, 61, of Beebe, Arkansas, was born September 4, 1949, at Beebe, Arkansas, to Edwin and Geneva (Stamps) Fecher, and she died Tuesday, November 16, 2010. She was a pharmacist for over thirty years, and had recently retired from USA Drug. Gelene loved gardening, traveling and cooking and especially enjoyed dining out at different restaurants. She was a member of Beebe First United Methodist Church.
Gelene is survived by her husband, Ben Bates; sons, Lee Bates of Little Rock and Brandon Bates of North Little Rock; her brother, Duane Fecher (Dawn) of Rowlett, Texas; her sister, Evelyn Fecher Ward (Douglas) of Beebe; sisters-in-law Glenna Fecher of Fort Smith, Thelma Macintosh of Georgia, Jackie Combs of Pleasant Plains; nephews, Randall Fecher of Cape Town, South Africa, Aaron Fecher of Lewisville, Texas, and James Fecher of Rowlett, Texas, Pete Riley and Duran Easley, both of Memphis; and niece Galina Fecher of Brooklyn, New York. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dr. Dennis Fecher.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Beebe First United Methodist Church, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 247, Beebe, AR 72012.
