Gary Spears, age 69, of Amity, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020.

He was born on October 21, 1951, in Amity, the son of Henry Spears and Carrie Mattie Dafford Spears. On September 21, 1979, he was married to Debbie Frazier Spears. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Bobby Spears, James Spears and Jack Spears.

Gary was a United States Navy veteran, having served in the Vietnam War from 1969 until 1973. For many years he worked as a long-distance truck driver and enjoyed hunting, camping and spending time outdoors. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, whose greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, who he loved with all his heart. Gary will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Spears of Amity; his daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Brett Tedder of Amity; his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Aimee Spears of Hot Springs; twelve grandchildren, Tensley Spears, Kristen Young, Benjamin Young, Owen Tedder, Layken Tedder, Landen Young, Zach Spears, Brody Spears, Abby Spears, Michael Newcomer, Nevaeh Newcomer and Jonathan Newcomer; his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Patricia Spears of Amity; his sister-in-law, Karen Thweatt of Sterling Heights, Michigan; his brother-in-law, Joe Normandin of Midwest City, Oklahoma; his special family friend, Judy Morris of Dierks; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Glenwood.
