Gary Frank Pack of North Little Rock, a loving husband, dad, son and papaw went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 20, 2012. He was born on September 20, 1940 to the late Frank G. and LaVeta Russell Pack.
Gary was one who always defied the odds. He had overcome obstacles that others believed impossible. He passed away at home with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. He put up a gallant fight that at times it seemed he would beat. He amazed those who cared for him with his strength, will to live, and positive attitude.
At a very young age he proved to be a go getter. He joined the Arkansas Army National Guard, November 28, 1956 at the age of 15, and loved every minute of it. He would continue building his career and education in the military. He attended Arkansas Military Academy. He completed I.O.B.C. and Army Rotor Wing Pilot courses. He spent 20 years flying helicopters and earned his Master Army Aviator Wings. He retired from the military after serving 34 years and 3 months. He served 6 years on the North Little Rock Board of Electrical Examiners and Supervisors. He also served 12 years as Vice President for Local 295 I.B.E.W. He spent his last 10 years working at U.P.R.R. as an electrician on locomotives. He was a very gifted man with many talents.
On July 2, 1966 he married Sandra Rae Holden, the love of his life. She was by his side to the very end. Among all of his accomplishments, his greatest were his children, Eric Frank Pack (DeLinda) and Melanie Rae Martin (Billy). He has four granddaughters, Courtney, Carson, Morgan and Caydie who he loved and adored and told them often. He made sure they
knew how much he loved them. He was also their biggest fan and supporter. When cheering was involved everyone knew he was there!
He was a member of Kellogg Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be made in his honor to Kellogg Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 9516 Bamboo Lane, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116 and Arkansas Hospice 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116.
He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
