Gary Dyer, aged 82, of Mount Ida, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022.
He was born March 9, 1940, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of James Irvin Dyer and Elyse Idel Larson Dyer. On November 22, 1972, he married Sharon Marie Marth. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gary was a Christian in his faith and attended the Community Outreach Church. He was a brick mason and a builder at heart, and he was also a loving and giving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. To people that didn’t know him he had a rough exterior but for the ones who knew him, he was loved, respected and admired. From his first born to his great-granddaughter he devoted his life to them and to teaching them they could be anything they dreamed of. Gary was a fitness and health enthusiast and passed that along to his children and grandchildren. He had the best sense of humor and didn’t take to many things serious. He would say, “Those who matter don’t judge and those who judge don’t matter.” and he truly lived his life by those words. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sharon Dyer; his son, Sean Dyer; two daughters and one son-in-law, Marci and Bryan Stonewall and Desiree Dyer; five grandchildren, Bryan Stonewall, Gage and Kendell Dyer, Nathan Stonewall, Johnny Dyer and Kristin Stonewall; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Stonewall; extended family and a host of many good friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff of Quapaw Care and Rehab for the care they gave to Gary.
Cremation arrangement are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
