Gale E. West

Gale E. West, age 63, of Glenwood, died Thursday, April 21, 2011. He was born on December 3, 1947, at Mount Ida, the son of John Herman West and Mable Norma Kilby West. On February 7, 1969, he was married to Kathy Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents. He worked as a truck driver for Midway Motor Freight and later worked for Cargill Feeds. He enjoyed working on old cars, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Kathy West of Glenwood; two sons, Roger West of Hot Springs and Jonathan West of Glenwood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Randy Penick of Salina, Kansas and M'Charla and Russell Barrett of Kirby; eight grandchildren, Anthony West, Miranda West, Alysa West, Kimberly Barrett, Joey Porter, Nathaniel Porter, Johnathan Penick and Rachell Weiss; three great-grandchildren, Ethan West, Caleb West and Alex Pinkerton; two brothers, Johnny West of Hollywood and John Herman West of Lufkin, Texas; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Sue and Richard Brown of Glenwood and Anneice West of Little Rock; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, April 23, 2011, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Kevin Smead and Bro. J. B. Evans officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be John Henthorn, Stanley Taylor, Roy Rogers, Presley Robertson, Jimmy Robertson and Roger Lambert. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
