Gail Graham Oberlag, wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully at home in North Little Rock on Monday, October 6, 2008, after a valiant fight with cancer. Born October 11, 1943, in Mena, Ark., Gail leaves behind her best friend and husband of 33 years, Ron Oberlag.
Preceded in death by her older brother, Gary ?Butch? Graham, she is survived by three children: Don [Felicia] Borin of Binghamton, New York, Becki Borin Hooten of North Little Rock, Jason [Shannon] Oberlag of Maumelle; her mother Mildred Shearin of Fayetteville, AR.; two brothers: Jim Graham and Steve [Sue] Graham, both of Fayetteville; two brothers-in-law: Randy [Jamie] Oberlag of Chickasha, OK and Reg [Alice] Oberlag of New York, New York; and her mother and father-in-law, Norma Nadine Kneeland and Maurice B. Kneeland of North Little Rock.
When she felt time was running out, Gail enlisted Ron to help her fulfill two wishes before she passed: to see her mother, Millie, in Fayetteville the weekend of September 27, and to attend the wedding of her grandson, Tony, to his beloved Kali on Saturday, October 4. With her ?can do? spirit and Ron?s unfailing support, she accomplished both.
Gail treasured all of her grandchildren: Tony [Kali] Lovell of North Little Rock, Josh Hooten and Jessy Hooten of North Little Rock; Seth [Kaci] Borin of Atlanta, GA; Cody Borin of Little Rock; Will Borin of Columbus, GA; Beau Borin & Cole Borin of Binghamton, NY; Austin Oberlag of Maumelle. Her nieces and nephews also held a treasured spot in her heart: Jenny Oberlag of Wayzata, MN; Erin Cochran of Cabot; Stephanie Wilson of Walls, MS; Jake Glenn of North Little Rock; Kevin Oberlag of Norman, OK; Amy Grueber and Laura Ritchie of Fayetteville.
Gail was a part of the Crosspoint Baptist Church family and her bible study group was something that filled her heart and she looked forward to each week.
Ron would like to give his sincere and heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff on the fourth floor of St. Vincent Infirmary, North Little Rock, AR; Dr. Storey at CARTI; Dr. Mazher and Nurse Becky at Arkansas Oncology; and Hospice Homecare Association of Little Rock. Ron especially wants to thank the two angels who came to assist Gail in her last days: both appropriately named Angel and Angela from I CARE of Arkansas and Baptist Home Health Care.
