Gail Durden

Gail Haines Gruver Durden, also known as "Suzy Q.", Julie's very best friend and Kyle and Landon's "NANA", passed away peacefully "in her happy place" at home in Sherwood surrounded by family and a host of many friends on Sunday, July 31, 2016. She was born July 20, 1935 in Lebanon, Indiana to William and Florence "GG" Gruver.
Suzy was a stewardess for 18 years with American Airlines and TWA, which was her favorite career. She loved traveling all over the world, and some of her favorite passengers were Elvis Presley, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Bobby Knight and his Indiana Hoosiers. Suzy quoted many times, "the sky is the limit" and lived life her way. She married Paul Lacy and was the proud owner of their Quarter Horse Ranch in Grapevine, Texas. She spent over thirty years in the medical field as a clinic office manager, and volunteered for St. Vincent's Infirmary. Suzy loved spending time with her family, watching her grandsons play baseball and enjoying old movies with her daughter and bonus daughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Clayton (Chris) and her many other bonus daughters; grandchildren, Kyle and Landon Clayton; sister, Charlotte Getz (Ron); nephews, Justin Getz (Erin) and Todd Getz (Trina); and four great-nephews, London, Jackson, Preston, and Parker.
The family would like to acknowledge and express their love and gratitude to their friend Dr. Joe L. Buford for his assistance and going beyond the call of duty. The family also wants to thank Christie Harshaw with Arkansas Hospice for her guidance and compassion in this difficult time.
Memorials may be made to Sherwood Animal Shelter, 6500 North Hills Blvd., Sherwood, Arkansas 72120 or Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116.
Her family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Her Life at 6:00 p.m., Friday, August 5th at Smith - North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street.
