Gae Phillips Showalter, 102, of Indian Valley, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 9, 2014 in The Nursing and Rehab at Good Shepherd in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in Floyd County, Virginia to the late Beatrice Ruth Quesenberry Phillips and William Earnest Phillips, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Cyril Waller Showalter; daughter, Mary Ruth Yarbrough; and brothers, Cleddie, Kirby, Eldridge, Cobern and Kenneth Phillips. She is survived by her son-in-law, Herbert Yarbrough; grandchildren, Jeanne Joyner (Harold), Carol Tennyson (Charles), Herbert Yarbrough (Patty), John Yarbrough (Emily), and Mark Yarbrough; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Joyner, Jason Joyner and Joshua Tennyson (Emily); brother, Cline Phillips; sister, Leah Gillie; sisters-in-law, Eva Phillips, Agnes Phillips and Irene Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are pending at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Blake Griffith and Mr. Rudolph Shelburne officiating. Interment to follow at the Showalter Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
